Today's beautiful fabric offering for NAIDOC week 2020 is Wild Flower Dreaming by Tanya Nangala Price.
Much of Central Australia is semi desert with very low levels of rainfall: however, in winter, even after a small rainfall, the wildflowers bloom in a lush array of colur and blossom. The fabric design for Wild Flower Dreaming is refined, almost austere, yet Tanya Price captures the beauty and lushness of the wildflowers with great skill and seeming effortlessness.
Tanya Nangala Price is from the Utopia region of Central Australia nd is one of the region's many well-established and respected artists. Her family includes artists such as Minnie Pwerle and Gloria Petyarre. Tanya learned to paint by watching her Aunty, senior artist Gracie Morton Pwerle. Over her career, she has developed her unique style to represent her counrty from a topograpghical viewpoint, typically working with stories associated with wildflowers, bush food and its collection. Her work is exuberant with colour yet beautifully restrained in style.
This lovely fabric is on the Misty Threads website and is on special for $14 during November.
